[Ann] WellGEO RegRep 4.15 release

Wellfleet Software is pleased to announce WellGEO RegRep 4.15 release.

WellGEO RegRep is a product implementation of .

A major new feature in this release is the Publishing, Management and Discovery of Styled Layer Descriptor (SLD) resources. This new feature enables WellGEO RegRep to be used as a catalog of SLD resources.

"A Styled Layer Descriptor (SLD) is an XML schema specified by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) for describing the appearance of map layers. It is capable of describing the rendering of vector and raster data. A typical use of SLDs is to instruct a Web Map Service (WMS) of how to render a specific layer." - Wikipedia

An SLD document plays a similar role for a web mapping service as does a HTML Style sheet for a web page. They both style their base resource (a map, in case of a mapping service) and give it the desired visual appearance and symbology.

With the explosion of feature and coverage data displayed on top of maps (e.g. google maps) there is a huge number of SLD resources defined. This new feature allows an organization to use an ebXML RegRep as a catalog of SLD resources and make it possible for their users to search for, discover and re-use SLD resources of interest based upon their search criteria. SLD resources may be searched using simple and flexible CQL queries that may combine multiple search criteria using logical operators such as "and", "or" and "not". CQL query support conform to ebXML RegRep Profile for Contextual Query Language (CQL).

For example, the following query finds all SLD documents with a NamedLayer or UserLayer that displays a FeatureType identified by name "{urn:example}Roads":

(namedLayer.layerFeatureConstraints.featureTypeConstraint.featureTypeName = "{urn:example}Roads") OR (userLayer.layerFeatureConstraints.featureTypeConstraint.featureTypeName = "{urn:example}Roads")
The feature also allows cataloging and discovery of SLD documents stored outside the WellGEO RegRep repository.

Quick tutorials on using XML component dictionaries now available

XML Component Dictionary capabilities are provided in conjunction with the CAM Editor toolset.  These dictionaries accelerate the development of consistent XML information exchanges using standard sets of dictionary components. The approach is aligned with OASIS and Core Components Technical Specification (CCTS) standards specifications for XML components and dictionaries.

Dictionary collections can be stored locally on the file system, or local network, or collaboratively on the web or cloud deployment, or can be shared and managed securely using the Oracle Enterprise Repository (OER) tool.

The quick tutorials are aimed at showing the 'how to' of the basic capabilities to jump start use of XML dictionaries with the CAM Editor.

The collection of dictionary tutorials videos run for a total of approximately 20 minutes.  Each video can be reviewed individually also.

Learn how to use the dictionary functions to create dictionaries by harvesting data model components from existing XSD schema, SQL database table schema, or simple Excel / Open Office spreadsheets with tables of components listed.

Also included are tips and functions relating to use of NIEM exchange development, IEPD and EIEM techniques.

These videos should be viewed in conjunction with reviewing the overall concepts and techniques described in the companion video on the CAM Editor and Dictionaries overview

Download the tools from the CAM Editor website: http://www.cameditor.org
